The 13th Annual Airport Noise Mitigation Symposium (ANMS) will be held October 6-8, 2013 in Reno, NV. The ANMS is the only conference in the United States that focuses specifically on topics directly related to airport noise mitigation and provides an opportunity for airport noise personnel, consultants, manufacturers, contractors and community leaders to work together to best plan and implement the various mitigation measures available to airports for reducing their noise impact in the community. A special thank you to our guest speaker, Fred Pierson of the U.S. Navy for his engaging and entertaining speech. Fred serves as the Program Manager for the Navy's East Coach Mission Compatibility Office. In this position, Fred mentors to the base-level, assisting bases and communities with strategies for land use compatibility.
The recipient for the 2012 Randy Jones Award for Excellence in Airport Noise Mitigation was the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) for their Noise Mitigation Program at Boston’s Logan International Airport. The Randy Jones Award for Excellence in Airport Noise Mitigation is designed to recognize the efforts of an individual, organization or program that has made a significant contribution to airport noise mitigation that generally entails land acquisition, sound insulation programs, and other projects related to the implementation of noise compatibility programs.
