The 11th Annual Airport Noise Mitigation Symposium (ANMS) was held October 2-4, 2011 in St. Louis, MO at the Westin St. Louis. The ANMS is the only conference in the United States that focuses specifically on topics directly related to airport noise mitigation This year's theme, "Meet Me in St. Louis" was chosen to reflect how airport noise personnel, consultants, manufacturers, contractors and community leaders work together to best plan and implement the various mitigation measures available to airports for reducing their noise impact in the community. The Symposium agenda covered a variety of noise mitigation topics, including land acquisition, sound insulation. and program management. Next year, the Airport Noise Mitigation Symposium will be shuffling off to Buffalo, NY. Check back for more details.
The 2011 Randy Jones Award for Excellence in Noise Mitigation was awarded to Michael Hotaling, Vice President of C&S Engineers, Inc. Michael has dedicated his entire 21 year professional career to providing professional consulting services to airport sponsors. His areas of technical expertise include noise mitigation programs, program management, master and environmental planning, and community outreach and stakeholder engagement. Michael leads the company’s QuieterHome® Program practice that has managed the investment of more than $300 million in federal grants in treating more than 18,000 homes and 22 schools and houses of worship at locations from Key West, Florida to Guam. He has a bachelor’s degree in Aircraft Engineering Technology from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida.
